I buy a fair amount of stuff from the Goodwill auction site. Depending on the location, someone of it gets shipped right away and in other cases, they take their sweet time; but, they want to get paid right away. Right now, I've got a couple of orders that were paid for 9 days ago and no shipment notification. I just know that if I waited 9 days to pay, they'd cancel the order and I'm about ready to contact them.

One thing I'll say about Ebay is slow shipment generally does not fly. I've had a few Ebay sellers drag their feet; but, most get the order out within the specified handling time (even though, 3/4 of the time, it's not packed well).

As far as the packing from Goodwill, it's sometimes better than what most Ebay sellers provide and, sometimes, it's like this one. When the FedEx man dropped off the package, the top of the box was caved in and he asked me to inspect it before he left. It looks like they sealed the box with one strip of used packing tape and it had come loose. This is a Hamilton school record player that they simply tossed in a big box and threw in a few pieces of newspaper in the box. Fortunately, it wasn't damaged.

You'd think Goodwill would have some foam and bubble wrap. I'm glad it wasn't damaged.

I would guess that at many Goodwill locations, the packing is done by volunteer workers who may not have the best training or experience and little fear of being fired. I once bought an item from the Goodwill site which was never shipped. After waiting a while, I contacted the location, and they refunded my money.

I bought radios from Goodwill about 5 times now. Never did Goodwill themselves ship the radio.

I either picked it up myself, or had a 3rd party "Pack and Ship" service take care of it.

School Record Players were designed with some abuse in mind so that may have helped it survive. A Crosley Cruiser would have been rubble.

Can't picture RadioTVNut purchasing a Cruiser, from anyone ever.

I always considered Goodwill a second rate seller on eBay. Poor description, do not test, does not know the item well, etc.

Goodwill sells on their own auction site.

That is only one step better than putting a sticker on the thing itself and turning in for mailing.

I just sent GW a message, concerning a radio that was bought 2 weeks ago and it still has not been shipped. I understand that things happen; but, when something is bought and paid for, two weeks and counting to get it out is a bit excessive. Hopefully, they'll either get it out soon or refund my money.
