Hello,
I found this listing on FBMP. A Motorola chairside radio! I got to reading and found out what he did. and I quote:"I took a beautiful art deco inspired radio and outfitted it with modern technology"    GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!! So, hoping to save part of it, I messaged him and asked if he had saved the radio part? He came back with "They were rusted and busted up badly, threw them out to get the rat pee smell outta my shop" GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!! I'm not sure how they would of gotten "busted up" unless he used a hammer to get it out of the cabinet. I've got a good mind to message him back and tell him if he had spent half as much time restoring the radio, as he spent restoring the cabinet, he'd have a $1500 radio to sell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It looks like the Borg got it. It's been assimilated.

Stupid ending for a Motorola 9R. That's a rare and somewhat valuable radio. Not $1500 valuable most days, but in its current condition it's only worth $15.

Another radio, painted in "Very quality blue color"! Not anywhere near the value of that Motorola, but would have made a nice addition to my GE lineup. I just don't understand the level of stupid it takes to do something like this to a radio!

Another quality paint job!

Take it easy, Tiger; these sets were made in the thousands, and really have little value today as practical appliances for the average non-radio-collecting-individual, so "up-cycling" has come into vogue.

And it's actually not a new phenomenon. In the '40's, ppl would saw off the legs of '30's consoles and set them on tables, to make them look more modern.

You are your fathers child. Remember the console TV that went out and he just took it out and slid in a regular TV in the opening.

It is so cool!! Beautiful piece & sound!

Mike you are so clever! You and RedoLou make for a great team of restorers.

You know what's almost as irritating ............ is that we continue to post links to items of interest, discuss them, laud them, pick them apart etc, etc, but we don't take the time to SAVE THE PHOTOS, and when the link goes dead, the opportunity to record, view, review items like this one are lost and the thread is a waste.

The cabinet on this is one that I've never seen, the veneers are lovely and maybe if we save these images, someone may use them someday to do a repair or restoration on a set that WILL be saved as original.

???

He took a diamond in the rough and turned it back into carbon dust.

I was just in Wichita for a few days and saw that chairside on FB. I almost gagged.
