eBay Zenith 6D525- am I missing something?

Post by DaleMidori »

I have a couple of these Zenith "toasters". This one is up to nearly $300 with over 6 days to go.
My original finish ones don't have dark grille bars, and this one's finish looks horribly unoriginal to me.
The back is missing. Just curious if anyone else here has similar thoughts about it. I just don't get the appeal.

It seems these are in high demand. I guess people like the look.
I like those too, but personally this is what I want:

It's just another transistor17046 auction; this seller has been discussed on this forum in more threads than I have fingers. The auctions always end with very high hammer prices; presumably they always will. Why, only he and the owners of the bidding accounts know, and they're not talking.

The presumption that "people are stupid" seems to always be a safe bet. Not just
in marketing old radios, but in everything else as well. I haven't really looked at this
forum much in the past. I think I'll avoid it in the future as well :)

Thanks,

All I can say is Christmas is coming up and competition from non-collectors for newish looking antique radios is on the rise again. Such radios always sell well right about this time of year.
