I'm new to this site, hoping someone can help me figure out the worth of this unit and if one can find replacement parts like the broken plastic top.
I'm sorry if I've posted this in the wrong discussion. Any help would be much appreciated. I'm entertaining selling this..

From what I can tell from the paper on the back:
Phono-Sonic Radio Corporation
Serial Number 001213
Model number is barely visible can't tell.
Possibly late 70's early 80's model
It does work, lights and all..

Thanks in advance

The Phono-Sonic is a very low end system Sold by K-Mart and the like. Power output lucky if 2 watts. Some of these had blinking lights in the speaker panels that kept time with the music. A three way mic system for three different color lights. (X-mas tree bulbs) Be sure to push in the 8 track record button before you put in a tape in to record on. I had to fix this stuff under Warranty before. Bent record button. Need to take apart to replace it. Also has very cheap audio output transistors in push pull (Germanium) these would short out and burn the PC board along with the can't get bias diode. Two ecg-177 in parallel do make the proper bias if need be. The BSR turntable was reliable. Not really meant for good records. As for AM/FM state of the art transistor radio. Value is not very much $35.00 in good working condition. Does make for back ground music in apartments where you don't want to P-off next door.

As mentioned, low end product. My son picked a working one up for $7 at a Goodwill markdown.

While I'm sure it was low end in it's day, I think it has one of the coolest looking cabinets I've ever seen for a console of that era, most are spanish style and don't do much for me. I think the value is more in the style than the audio quality, similar to the way a 40s bakelite radio is worth more than a typical 40s console today, when the console cost much more new. I haven't seen one for sale, so you might be able to start on the high end and just see what happens, but having the cosmetics in tip-top shape would be a must.

For the broken lid, it looks like a pretty simple flat top piece, with another flat front piece at 90 degrees. Hard to tell from the photos. I would see if a local plastics place could just make one for you. Hope that helps

Thanks for the responses fellas. This really helps me confirm what I had been thinking. Glad I got educated on what it is and the workings of it.
