I picked up this Bell amplifier this weekend. It was something that I just could not pass up. I love the style and everything about it. i had to dig very deep to buy it, but in the end, i am extremely happy that i did.

it fit my criteria these days: mint condition both inside and out and something that i could just not live without.

this will be summer 2019's restoration project.

steve

That is a beauty Steve!

Looking forward to the restoration thread.

How do the indicators connect to the pots?

thanks

the indicators connect just like a radio tuning shaft, a wheel wheel, and with dial cord.

i absolutely love this thing. that dial with all the indicators just "makes" it. it is not the average "box / cage" amplifier. the rounded edges, hammertone finish, and again...THOSE DIALS !!! they illuminate so beautifully too !

it was not local and i had to pick it up. we enjoyed a nice day out all day long on saturday.

Nice score, Steve! I bet it'll sound very good once you're done with it. Does it use 6V6's or 6L6's?

hi william and thanks

it uses the infamous 6L6g.

this thing is almost too nice to touch. i will restore it as pristine as possible with full-fledged prozac level OCD under the hood.

it very well could be one of those "don't touch it and let it be" type of things. it is *that* nice.

however, it will be restored b/c i use my stuff. it is going to look beautiful sitting up on a shelf in my audio room that i plan to complete this year.

they bring a niiiiice price on ebay even beat up, but the condition, and well worth it, allowed me to pay more  , but i just could not resist.

this would have been one of those "i did not buy it REMORSE" issues, as in kick myself in the hind-end for decades if i did not buy it 8) .

what's the model number and can you post a schematic?
Can you show the underside wiring too?

I love the "instrument panel." Congrats! I agree that it should be restored and used. On something like this I would re-stuff the FP capacitors but I wouldn't go as far as re-stuffing the tubular ones -- I have no problem with modern components under-chassis.

Maybe 25 watts, maybe as much as 50 if it uses a driver transformer. Postwar, has miniature tubes. If there's a Sams folder, I probably have it - model number?

How much do you call "digging very deep" ?
It's nice.. that's for sure but it's not like a stereo HI-Fi ... so what value... ?

model 3725b

the only schematic info that i've found on a quick internet search is that it is found in Sams Photofact 244-3. i confirmed this by finding an original sams print on ebay. it will be here soon.

in the meantime, does anyone have a good schematic/serivce info from riders, sams, etc. in digital form ?

i will do an underside pic soon.

steve

Nice Bell Sound System 3725B PA Amp.

I have several pieces of Bell Sound System HiFi equipment (mono + mux) that I have restored and all of it is very well made!

GL,

Terry

mine is a 3725 B. i believe the "B" makes quite a difference in what the insides are. is the schematic for a "B" ?

i have never used a 6N7 tube. also, my amp has two smaller transformers plus the large power transformer. i only see two transformers in the schematic ?

tom, i will PM you with my email address. could you please email me a much larger file of the data ?

thanks.

steve

This is the 'B' version. Third transformer is the choke in the power supply. Will rescan tomorrow - I only saved the smaller version...

DR

These amps were mine. They sounded unfreakingbelieveable with enough power to blow the house apart. The
power trans blew on one of them. NOT A HAPPY CAMPER. I sunk several hundred into them.
