Greetings to the Forum:
I have run into a small gap in my knowledge and I hope that someone here can provide me with the missing information.
I need to make up a patch cord for balanced audio which is XLR on one end and a tip-ring-sleeve plug on the other. (I am going from a line output XLR on one board to a line input jack on another.)
The convention for wiring XLR's seems to be: 1: shield 2: High or + 3: Low or -
The question is: what is the accepted wiring convention for a tip-ring-sleeve plug? I would assume that the shield goes to the sleeve, but what about the tip and ring? Which is + and which is - ?
Thanks,
