I just bought a Zenith Allegro Stereo, model JR596W. It's in overall good shape, except for a few problems, which I'm going to repair. I've been looking at some parts online, but I keep seeing many parts and stereos with the model number HR596W, rather than JR596W, and I can't seem to find what the difference is. I know mine is a JR596W, because it's on a sticker on the bottom. Anyone know? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum! The Allegro line encompassed many models. Seems like a decent enough all-in-one. Beside the JR and HR, there's also a GR, and all three carry the same outward appearance. At least in the few "Allegro" pics I viewed of that style that bother to include a model number!

It could be a different year or a slight change to the turntable. Or different finish. G, H, (did they skip the letter I?), J. I say "J" wins!

Zenith Allegro must be popular. Lots of results to weed through.

Service information (late 1979) for JR596W was published in...
Sams Photofact service manual Set-1824 Folder-3

it also covered these models/chassis...

It is difficult to find. Keep an eye on ebay.
Be very cautious of websites offering digital downloads, as many of these are scammers.

Sams website will have a copy for $22.00 - be aware that it will not be a high-resolution copy.
