Let me put it this way - if I handed you a fifty, I'd be looking for a twenty back. Provided its in working condition . . . 8)

Just because it is solid state does not guarantee perfect function. Last year I had to restore the family 1964 Zenith stereo. Had to replace caps, replace transistors(noisy Germanium) clean controls, clean the dial, clean the whole chassis, replace bulbs, lubricate buttons, etc. etc. on top of buying a download of the SAMS manual for it.

Seriously, if it is working condition and you have a place to use it, it does not matter that it has low value on the market these days. They take up alot of floor space and in the future some but probably all will maybe develop a following just as older antique radio consoles did. There may be certain ones right now that are in demand or command a better price than others. Probably tube consoles at this time. Solid state stuff mostly cheap.

how much will you pay me to take it ?

if it were in your family or it has some sentimental / emotional connections, then it is worth something...to you.

in my collection of real radios, i have a couple plastic tube radios that are not worth the gas or air pollution to haul them away in a dump truck, but they all have an emotional value and are worth something...to me.

Sadly there's little value in stereo consoles unless you get into the higher lines of the likes of Fisher and Magnavox. I have 4 right now; one my son paid $7, one was $20, one was $50, and one was free, all in working condition.

Opinions vary, as usual. A lot of young urbanites are collecting vinyl and wanting a working stereo console with turntable to go with it.
If it has the straight lines of the Danish Modern style, so much the better. French Provincial, no so desirable, so harder to sell.
Solid state, many people would not know the difference and often less work to get it playing on both channels.

The record changer, being mechanical, will probably be the first thing to malfunction in the solid state consoles, and as someone mentioned, to alot of users, the ability to play vinyl records is an attraction to alot of people that want these. Getting out a stack of grammas Laurence Welk records or parents rock records and letting them run is probably alot of fun. Records can sound great unless worn out or abused. IF you have a stash of records that were taken reasonable care of, and a good working correct player, it will be enjoyable. How everyone experienced their music in say, 1970.

I live in hipster central. I see Grundig consoles that don't get $100 even. That said, many are sold as bars with unworking radios. There is one I checked out that they now call me and want me to come get (tube Grundig). I don't have the room and it needs a lot of work to get it up to where it should be.
