This is a great little stereo I use to play my 100s of vintage records. Always sounded great. Recently it was in storage a while and the volume knob got kind of fuzzy, then I noticed half the 4 channels weren't working. I took the cabinet apart, tested the transistors, they all tested fine. I deoxited all the knobs and switches, the little digital channel select screen hasn't worked since I got it, but I noticed all the terminals on that screen were rusted. Just the screen terminals, nothing else. I really don't want to have to dig deep into this thing. I hate to admit it but I think I'm in over my head if it goes that far. Anyone have any clue what could be up with the audio output?

Hi Vinylnut,

That is a really nice radio!
hifiengine has a good quality service manual:
https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/technics/sa-6000x.shtml

As there was some corrosion in there, chances are that some of the switches are still not working.
Try cleaning them again and exercise the switches.
There is probably nothing wrong with the transistors,
You could also check if the supply voltages reach all the output amplifiers.

Regards, Peter

Thanks Peter. I did just that after posting. I got into some other things and haven't even had a chance to try it out yet. I would really like to get the little channel screen working. I'll try and post some pics.

File comment: Turns out it isn't rust. It's some sort of glue

It's just a little screen that's supposed to light and show what channel your on. As I mentioned I only have 1 channel working. Could this be why the screen isn't working? Could it have been messed up from someone hooking speakers up wrong? It is kind of confusing, it may have even been me.
