I just purchased this monaural hi-fi console and am trying to get it shipped from Mississippi to Arizona. I had one of these in a blonde cabinet when I was a kid. The amplifier is rated for 30 watts, and the thing will rock the house with that 15-inch woofer. A high end set for the day with an audio compensation control on the pre-amp/tuner panel. Can't wait to get it home.

Nice! I will bet that what looks like a metal base GZ34 is worth as much as the rest of the console. I hope you get the console in good condition, no shipping damage, and that you are able to get it going. Keep us posted, please.

I've been looking for one of these forever. The nostalgia thing, I guess, since I had the same set (almost) in my youth. My living room furniture is southwest mission style and the unit will fit right in. I don't think I'll have any problems getting it going. It will obviously need a re-cap and general clean-up, and a turntable cleaning and service. If you look closely, the tubes in the amplifier are still the original Admiral ones.

Another thing I really like about this set is the tuning eye in the lower center of the tuner. Very cool.

I would bet that the console is a thumper! The brochure mentions parallel push put and that should put out some good wattage. 6BQ5, 7189 or 6973 output tubes??

Ya. My guess is four of the 6BQ5 tubes. Two parallel push-pull sets based on the tube layout in the last photo.

That 15" woofer looks like a Jensen so it definitely will sound good.

The 15" woofer looks kind of early Altec to me as well as possibly Jensen?, either Jensen, Altec, University, et al., will all sound good from 1957!
