This amp came out of a circa 1959 VM console record player that was given to me at the end of an estate sale. I had every intention of fixing it as it was; but, water got in my basement and messed up the bottom of the cabinet. The cabinet could have probably been fixed; but, having no room to keep it long term and knowing that if I overhauled it, the local folks would expect to get it for $10 helped me make the decision to part it out. The speaker cabinets were not hurt and I still have them; but, I gave the gutted cabinet to someone who repurposes things.

The amp uses a PP 6AQ5 design and the output transformers look substantial for a record player amplifier. One day, I'll overhaul it and build some sort of enclosure to house it in.

Yesterday, I was looking on Ebay and found what looks to be the same amp (in component form, seen in the last picture). It ended up selling for $202.50. Mine may not be as pretty as this one; but, it will perform the same task and it was a whole lot cheaper.

I'm not one who normally advocates gutting consoles; but, if you find an old tube console that isn't in the best of shape, it may be a cheap way to get into tube stereo.

I believe this is the schematic; very similar to the stand-alone 1448.

It's a respectable amp, it'll sound decent
