Are any old boxing-match radio broadcasts available? I remember listening to a few when I was a kid in the 1950s. They were no less than breathtaking.

Thanks,
Ron

You know, I really need to get into OTR. I have listened to some in the past. Problem is modern life makes it hard to just sit and listen. I yearn for simpler times.

Excellent. I just listened to a 1948 match between Tony Zale and Rocky Graziano and I'm almost exhausted!!

Thanks,

Edit: You never realize that a ring announcer can talk that fast ... until you hear him talk that fast!

Oddly enough,I find that I pay the most attention to OTR when I'm working on something at the bench or something in the garage. It doesn't seem to distract me.

I foolishly tossed out my stationary bike a few years ago because it needed repairs.I used to do one hour per night and listen to OTR while I cranked away-I've listened to thousands of hours this way.I need to get another exercise bike,I'm packing on the pounds in the winter that I can't seem to lose with the road bike in the summer.

I think the old time broadcasters where very good.
You could pitcher what was going on just by there voice.

Before radio or telephone they used telegraph to bars.

I just did a medium overhaul of a bedroom...new ceiling (plaster cracked and falling a little), repair cracks in plaster walls, paint everything that neeted to be painted....walls, ceiling, trim...on and off for two weeks...

anyway...did most of it while listening to OTR streams from either Conyers OTR or Antioch OTR...best next thing to listening to the actual radio is on the phone tucked into my overall bib pocket.

My OTR interest ebbs and flows; I'm 53 now and have been listening since around 14 years old...some of the stuff from the 70s (CBSRMT, Mutual) is nostalgic to me now!

Get into it! It's fun.

I'm 57 and I used to listen to CBSRMT as it was first run(started in 1974),probably on some flamethrower 50,000 watt-er out of NY.I believe it came on at 8:00pm,maybe 9:00.In the early 80's,when I was in high school,NPR was running the Canadian horror series "Nightfall" every Sunday night at midnight. Then, they ran another creepy show called "Midnight".Both of these series I now have on CD.NPR Playhouse was great,I wish it was still on the air,but I'm sure it would be a tough sell today.

I find it easy to enjoy OTR by downloading programs to a flash drive and using my car's
USB port to play them as I drive---invaluable when you have a long drive!

I'm a captive audience and can listen more intently on the road.

Been downloading from Radio Echoes lately---nice selection!
