Hello:

I am a ham operator (K6HJM) who is trying to "down size" some of my radio efforts. So I have a Hammerlund 180AC with a digital frequency display that I no longer need. Both items are in good operating condition and look good. Thus, I am offering FREE a Hammerlund 180AC radio and the frequency display to anyone who wants them.

Please note that I live in Pasadena, California and that the 180 is a heavy "boat anchor". So pickup at my house would be best. Of course I could take both items to UPS and ask then to pack and ship, but that would be very expensive.

To contact me use: leave a message on 626-794-4356.

I hope someone is interested and/or spread the word about this free item.

Thanks, Herb Meiselman

I'm interested, Herb. I'll look up the book weight and see if I can afford the shipping. I can call the local UPS store and get an estimate on cost. I wish pickup was an option for me. Long drive, even for a nice radio. I'm trying to work up the courage to go take my tests this summer, so "budding ham" might be an apt description.

Thanks,

As much as I'd like to have it, I do already have a 170A, dedicated to ham coverage whereas the 180AS is a fine General Coverage set.....I have to pass. They would look good together on the desk. But, after speaking with the local UPS store, I suffered sticker shock when we discussed dbl boxing, etc.. On my fixed income, given time I would have saved up enough to do it, but it just isn't in the cards presently.

Herb, that's a fine gesture on your part and I appreciate it on behalf of all the beginning hams and SWL group. I thank you. But sadly that's all I can do. If it were substantially different than the 170 I might sell the dogs and cats to raise the money, but it would simply be a luxury right now so I have to pass. Even with the shipping cost, it's a good deal on the radio so I'm sure someone will jump on it and be happy. But it can't be me this time. Now if you come up with a spare transmitter...….we may talk a different tune :D

kind regards,

Tony

Eric, I hope you get it!

I'll take them, on the single condition outlined in the PM I sent.
