I sure wish I would have read this!!!!! I just got suckered in for $26. Money was sent to a Dorothy Moturi. First time I have EVER been scammed.

How did Tom Carrison get our email?

Yep! Got me too! My $20 also went to Dorothy Moturi. I let my enthusiasm for getting the part get in the way of my common sense. Live and learn! Good news is, an actual forum member does have the part I need so it turned out ok.

I just encountered the same thing. I wanted to buy a GE 517F and the day I posted it I got and email saying they had what I wanted. It was from a new user who had not posts.

He sent one picture that showed I found on pinterest. He wanted payment via cashapp and cashapp flagged it as a potential scam. I have bought many things from collectors (mostly phonograph related) over the years and had no problems.

This time some red flags went up; so, I backed out. Then I saw this scam topic.

I will be happy to share the user's name with the moderators if needed.

Yeah he has moved on to other forums but is still at it. Here's the email chain I had with him regarding a couple of Collectors Snare Drums. I looked him up on this site and found this thread so thought I'd have a bit of fun and troll him.

From Me to Carrison Tom

I figure they are 4k a piece. Actually, that's about the same price I just paid for an antique Hammond Radio. Also, I typically only transfer funds via the Justice Federal Credit Union in the same building as my job (I work at the Department of Justice in DC)

From Me to Carrison Tom

Send me some pictures so I can see how they look.

From Carrison Tom to me
How much are you offering for it including shipping.
Thanks

From Me to him
Hey Tom, thanks for reaching out to me. So you have the Time Machine and R40 Snares are you interested in selling either of them?

I got a PM saying to text a person because they had my part I was looking for. Then a few minutes later the guy says the same person has another item I was looking for, sounded like a scam to me.

Just tried to be scammed by stevenmatt225@gmail.com
He said he had a knob I was looking for but when he posted a photo I checked and found the photo on the web.
When I confronted him he just replied with "Yeah".

But, but - he has a Stratosphere for $5.95! Maybe I can talk him down to $3.95.
