I took a good look at my stash of speakers and discovered I had way more than I thought so I unpacked about 25 boxes and looked at them and realized that I had collected a large number of nice (mostly) speakers that should be shared with others. Many of these are 10 and 12 inch Zenith speakers, plus a few 15 inch General Electric, Magnavox (I got to use with a Scott), and a Wurlitzer Juke Box speaker. This is a great opportunity to stock up on speakers for the next radio you find. Most of the speakers are priced at $20 or less; the 15 inch a bit more.

I also have a number of Zenith chassis for 1937 and 1938, several are parts chassis with some hard to find parts, and a couple of complete 9 and 12 tube chassis from 1938. Parts chassis are priced at $20, some a bit more.

Will be at space 402.

Do you have any Zenith 5528 chassis?

Would have been used in the "beehive" 5R312 and 6D312...I'm actually looking for the preset assembly and possibly the volume control (for spares). Thanks!

I have a couple of Philco speakers, probably 8-inch, and a number of Zenith 10 and 12-inch speakers, as well as a couple of 1938 12 inch speakers with the Bee Hive, I think 1,000 ohms for a 9-tube and 690 for a 12-tube receiver. No Zenith 8-inch speakers. I also have a quantity of 1,000 ohm, 50 watt resistors with a slider for a center tap. These are great if you want to use a Permanent Magnet Speaker in lieu of a field coil unit, either as an interim measure until you find the right speaker or as a replacement. With the slider they are good for anything up to 1,000 ohms.

TYM the Bee Hive I am referring to is the big sliding paper Mache bell housing that was used on the 1938 and 1939 Zenith consoles and was adjustable to affect the tonal quality, not the "Bee Hive" styling of the plastic table model radio. I think this was the same chassis used in the Glass Rods set. I may have a spare chassis that I took the preset from to complete my glass rods radio. Should be complete except for the preset pushbutton assembly. I don't know if that will help you or not.

Thanks. I have a stuck slug in one of the four preset tuners in my 5R312, so am looking for a replacement assembly to have on hand.

I'm looking for a 12" Zenith speaker, part number 49-186, and the transformer that goes with it.

Dennis, don't know what juke box the Wurlitzer speaker is from. It is 15 inch and is red if that helps.

I got the Wurlitzer down - I almost forgot and left in in storage!

It is a 15 inch speaker, red, and the markings on the box state 1,288 ohm field and 6 ohm voice coil. I haven't confirmed that as I measured it years ago.

I have two of these speakers and I bought them to use with a Scott Philharmonic. I had a friend rewind the field coil to the impedence required for the Scott and he added a center tap that the Scott required. I had a sheet metal shop build a pedestal for it and it now needs to be sprayed with wrinkle pain and then silver and will look like a Scott speaker. This one is original and while I haven't removed the cardboard cover over the front, an examination from the rear suggests the cone is near perfect, but I can't see the very edges.

I took four pictures so perhaps they can tell anyone what they need to know.

BTW, the Magnavox 15-inch speaker also looks very good and has an output transformer. It was also purchased long ago for a Scott project.

Joe

Would like to buy the original red one.
It’s for an RCA, not Wurlitzer.
Email sent. Thanks.

I sold a number of speakers at Kutztown, shipped a couple and donated a number to the Delaware Valley Club at the end of the Kutztown meet.

The following are a number that I brought back home and I offer for sale to ARF members.

1. Zenith 12-inch model 49U416 which I believe fits a 10S669 Zenith from 1942. Nice cone with one repairable tear. $20

2. Zenith Model 49AB208, pristine original cone, $20

3. Zenith Model 49AG441, couple of tears, repairable. $20

4. Zenith 49AB379, pristine original cone, $20

5. Zenith 49AB208, brand new cone replacement by Rich Stamer, Sound Remedy in NJ: $60

These are all plus shipping, which should not be too bad. No packing or handling charges, just the cost plus shipping. I have some more to photograph and list. All of the 15-inch speakers are sold.
