Greetings to the Forum:

I need to purchase some aluminum panels for 19" rack mounting. I specifically need a 3 RU panel (5 1/4"), but would also like to acquire some stock... 2 RU and 1 RU panels and more than one 3 RU panel would be nice.

All panels MUST be Aluminum. What have you?

Thanks,

Last time I needed a rack panel that I couldn't find I went to a sheet metal shop and bought 1/8 in aluminum stock. They will cut it to size for you, you just have to drill the mounting holes.

Might find some at a metal recycler also.

Unfortunately, those aren't options for me. I live in a small coastal town. The only businesses around here are sea food restaurants, hotels, book shops and candy stores. There was a fairly large welding shop in Newport about 19 miles south, but they folded; I bought some of the last of their aluminum round bar and tube stock at their liquidation sale... but didn't think to buy any sheet.

So... I'm afraid it's strictly mail order for me.

Thanks,

The monoprice ones linked above are steel.

I have a 4U panel that I can part with. It has a few extra holes in it. If I cut it down to a 3U the one set of mounting slots will be gone and the other will still be correct at 1-1/2" in from the edge. I can easily cut a new set of mounting slots if you want.

Panel is a bit scratched but I can clean that up if you want. I can also CNC machine holes, slots, etc on the panel if you have a drawing.

I you want more panels, you can have the metal shipped to me from an online supplier and I can cut them and send them to you.

Just cover the postage and $5 for packing and driving to the post office.

According to at least one review, the monoprice panels are made of steel. OP needs aluminum. The price is right though!

"Nice heavy steel panel. Nice shiny paint. What else can you say?

PROS: Nice shiny, rippled paint. Good heavy guage steel."

BUD makes them. Here is a datasheet and an example:

"SFA" and "PA" are different finishes.

Jim, I use the Middle Atlantic PBL series quite often for projects, they are nice.
Here is the 3U:
