Have you ever seen a tube like this (very "robotic" looking)? It says "201A" on the bottom", but does anyone know anything else about it. The copper cover does not come off and is permanent! I found a few of these last week at a garage sale.

I have one like that. I can't remember for sure, it is an off brand with a name like Colonial or Continental IIRC. I couldn't find out any more than that.
I think there were two varieties, one with an enclosed top and one with a nice little hole on top.
In case you found more than you need, I would be interested.

Its a concertmaster 201a

I just got 3 NIB

The tube dosent come out of the base, but the top part does separate form the rest of the shell. It may take some rotating however.

Ian is right, it is a Concert Master. I looked it up last night. I didn't think of it because most of my Concert Master tubes are normal.
Mine does have a small hole in the top, and I have not tried to open the shield.
