Out-of-body experiences.

Sometimes, a song will get stuck in my head that not only I don't listen to, I haven't been anywhere where I would've heard it. Much like when someone borrows your car and leaves the radio tuned to a station you'd never listen to, obviously an out-of-body experience(r) borrowed yours in the night and went somewhere you normally wouldn't.

It's the only plausible explanation.

More K3 bubblegum - Toveren (Magic - a.k.a. Hocus Pocus) from Sleeping Beauty.

If ABBA ever stuck in your ear or the Caramell Girls Caramelldansen or Doktorn...

This one topped the Flemish and Dutch charts for 13 weeks in the summer of 2002 - mostly among the preteen girl set since it was supposed to be the Flemish answer to the Spice Girls.

Singing about how smiles are magic and anybody can do it and make the world a happier place.

First listen to just the track without the vocals from the B side of the 2002 single.

If you click COMMENTS - SORT BY - NEWEST FIRST you can see my English pronunciation guide to the original Flemish since a couple buddies of mine and me are going to be in a Halloween parade playing the Three Good Witches from the Sleeping Beauty this is taken from.

Then listen to the whole record.

and then see the kind of costumes we'll be using (I'll be the fat green one in the middle)

I can't remember exactly now who on here speaks Flemish/Dutch that I put up the Dutch Sesame Street awhile back but whoever it is can just laugh along.

I ran across this video a few days ago and can't get the melody out of my head.

My worst earworm: "The hills are alive with the sound of music"

Others: Itsy bitsy tensy weensy yellow polka dot bikini

and the late 18th century German tune Ich bin der Schneider Kakadu,
upon which Beethoven wrote a set of variations, and is simple enough
(like the polka dot bikini) that one hears it in other classical compositions
(probably intentionally).

I got stuck with "Pass the Dutchie" by Musical Youth, but the middle more melodic pieces rather than the line that actually said "pass the dutchie from the left hand side" but I finally heard it on the radio so now it's gone.....

I wonder what a dutchie is.....?

I always liked that song too! I first heard it in the hallway of my HS when it came out. A kid had a huge boom-box and blasted it for a minute. It sounded great echoing in the hallway!
The "Dutchie" is actually a cooking pot, taken from "Dutch oven". People were connecting it to drugs at the time, but that's false. To be fair the song was taken from another that was referencing pot.
Watch the official video of the song for a laugh. It looks like a bunch of kids doing a HS talent show!

By the way, one song that has stuck in my head since it first came out when I was kid is "Magic" by Pilot. Still my favorite song of all time. "Never been away-e-ake, never seen the day break, leaning on my pillow in the moooooorniiiiiing liiiiiight...."

Hey, you must be a youngster, that was the late 60's I think. Haven't actually heard it since, but I can play that one in my head anytime.

1975 to be exact: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzlK0OGpIRs
I remember first hearing it as a kid driving over the old Tappan Zee bridge heading upstate to my Grandparents summer place in Ulster County. I'm 52. Being a kid in the '70's was the best.

As I was saying to myself at least, "It's Getting Better All the Time" usually breaks whatever nasty Top 40 mantra is lodged in my brain or my backpages. A Happy Tune as Mary Poppins would call it.
"Crimson Flames tied thru my ears...."

A tune I use to shorten a boring task is "1, 2, 3". Do we need a Youtube link? I sure don't.

Another one, for driving in town, "Stop, in the Name of Love", (before you break my car).

Think it Oh over,
I got the right-of-way,

Think it Oh over,
Don't want to crash, today.

The bass line really makes that tune, Funk Brothers bassist, whose name I can't recall.
