That Western Air Patrol looks really cool!! Get that restored and possibly refinished and you'll have a very unique set!

Another one surfaces! How many dial lights does your radio have? Here is the thread on mine:

Just got a new addition to the collection today, a Belmont 6D111 rabbit in great shape off of eBay. Sniped it at the last second and got it!

Dang!! Lots of nice radio finds on the previous page! The Rogers Majestic, the Philco 37-630, Zenith 5S-319 (exactly the same condition as mine!), the Silver and the American Bosch! Can't remember when I've seen so many on one page, that I like! The Western Air Patrol is also a rare find. My latest find is this Zenith 6S-322 Stars & Stripes with a nice original finish that I need to do"the Treatment" on yet.

I'm going to use your thread to guide me thru my project, if I decide to dive in. My chassis has a red lamp and a green lamp. They illuminate the plastic part that shows American stations on the top and shortwave locations on the bottom. There is a 3rd wire wrapped around one of the others that isn't connected.

Ah, just like my radio was. I added a blue lamp, connected to that loose wire. Who know what happened at the Gilfillan factory. Also, I first used one of the round PVC belts, but it slipped. The Radio Daze belt kit is a better approach.

Quality Radio belts might have exactly what you need.

Creative use of orange paint. Still a nice piece tho.

I find a model 120 and a model 335 in that cabinet:

Newest finds. ERA DC power supply, Stromberg Carlson 501A - some wood damage in corner. Some interesting paper goods, and as yet unidentified AC/DC portable radio.

So my quest for a Capehart record changer for a Philco 38-1-116xx. Has come to a successful conclusion with the purchase of a Philco 38-3-3 radio record changer

Six tuber is hard to find. 5 tube is common so it seems. :)

So now you've got two sets and only one changer. Don't you still need another changer?

I think the 38-3-3 is just as rare as the 38-1-116.

That is an amazing Stromberg and that paper ephemera is drool worthy...
I have seen a few similar of that portable. I'll look to see if I can find it.

Great finds!!!

Find: Tektronix Type 647 Oscilloscope

A couple of relatives of mine were getting rid of some old vacuum tube radios and some test equipment for another relative (Mervin) that has declined in health and could no longer tinker with his electronics and old radios. They are moving soon to a place where Mervin can get more frequent care and wanted his electronics to go to a good home.

I picked up this Tektronix Type 647 Oscilloscope ( and scope cart) from Mervin which he purchased when he was in the U.S. Air Force. I am very happy to have it! As someone who is new to oscilloscopes, I have a lot of learning to do! :D

That looks like a pretty nice oscilloscope. You can find some pretty good information and tutorials about oscilloscopes on YouTube.

Good luck, Tom

Could not pass this up on the bay for about $38.00 including shipping. I cleaned it up and checked it out and only the low ohms range was not working. It has a blown 1/16 amp fuse so I ordered some. I used the milliamp range on another multimeter in place of the fuse and the low ohm range works. The picture was taken with my 5 volt standard feeding the input so I think I got a pretty good deal.
