He once did a bit on age, and he said "The term "old man" isn't an age, it's a mindset--some guys are old men in their 20's!". I've always been that guy, but today I turned the big Five O, so I'm getting closer to backing that up with physical years

I can't complain too hard. My knees are shot, but otherwise I'm doing just fine--some are not so lucky.

Which brings me to a question; how do YOU define old age? What is your criteria? Some (like Carlin) say it's a mindset, others say it's dependent on appearance, and some say it's related to your overall health.

I'm an old man, but I've always been...it's all I've known

The old question.
How old would you say you were if you didn't know?

I've never heard that one. But my answer would be at least 70 :P

In dreams, I have hair.

In a dream, a stranger asked how old I was. With neither wish to impress nor guile, I answered 24.

The calendar says "yeah but for the third time". Which is right? Well, no mistaking what your planet's gravity does to skin. And mine is genetically problematic to start with, so there's that and it's getting worse with age. Same with sinuses; lotta nose blowing. Feet hurt if I'm inattentive how I use them.

Other than those, people who knew me at 17 but not since could probly recognize me now. Oh, if I wore a wig. Hey, if it's good enough for Shatner......

We may be very close in age, but I'm no "Old Man" I'm young, I'm not giving in if I can help it! :D

Age is an attitude....

My mother's favorite quote:
"Old age is a question of mind over matter---if you don't mind, then it doesn't matter."

I am old enough to know better, but young enough not to care.

As 89 year old Clint Eastwood said, "I just don't let the old man in."

I still think like under 30 alot, but when I get up in the morning, stumbling around, spilling the coffee grounds, tripping over pets that want to be fed right now, and walking to do something, and forgetting what it was, well, you can try but you can only hold reality off at arms length for so long. Later in the day is often much better, especially after a nap.

It depends on how old the girl/lady I'm looking at is.

..."how do YOU define old age? What is your criteria?"

I define "youth", at any age, as flexibility, strength, and energy.
Too many older guys think they can recover "youth" by becoming skinny.
After age 30 we begin to lose 3-5% of muscle a decade.

"Age-related muscle loss, called sarcopenia, is a natural part of aging. After
age 30, you begin to lose as much as 3% to 5% per decade. Most men will
lose about 30% of their muscle mass during their lifetimes."

"Less muscle means greater weakness and less mobility, both of which may
increase your risk of falls and fractures."

When I was young, I was older than my years. Now that I'm older, I am younger than my years.

Apparently I'm a baby-boomer, but I have nothing in common with most peopled saddled with that label - which leads me to believe that generational labels are bunkum.

At 67 I don't really feel all that old. Except for my knees, hips, back, neck, and one ankle. I think I can chalk most of this up to playing football in high school. Except the ankle, which I broke three times as a kid.

Oh well ... I can still type ;-)

People always think I am 10 years younger than I am. I always tell them that is an advantage of acting so juvenile!
