If there was a sub-category for 'pretty ugly', I would submit this Motorola.

Zenith Y513 . What were they thinking. Although a pleasure to listen to, great sound with its bass response.

It obviously needs to meet it's radio soulmate to bring it's beauty back to life! A makeover, a tender caress of the dials would make her heart sing and swing like it was 1925 again...

I married (and divorced) the daughter of a WW2 vet who was a ham, had a basement full of war surplus tube gear that only he knew how to operate. He went from North Africa to Berlin and won 3 bronze stars. He got me interested in radio. She was 21 back in 1982, 105 lbs. with chestnut silky air and doe brown eyes. Her Mom was German, brought over by her Dad after the war. She had a radio voice that matched her looks, and could melt a 100 amp fuse. I learned to NEVER let her talk on my C.B..

This Philco has to rank right up there in the plain/ugly contest. Makes Westcoastjohn's Motorola look like a real beauty in comparison. Not sure what's wrong with the "unknown and unloved" TRF set. It pretty much looks like most of the other 3-dialers I've seen. Attachment:

Reminds me of a small air conditioning unit. George P.S. I see what's going on with that Philco design. It's a clock radio without the clock! Attachment:

These ones weren't as exciting as radios I've kept. I, too, have a few that are on the way out. One of them sprayed me with sparks and blew a fuse, downright unfriendly!

Well I love it, especially those large interstage transformers. If you decide to sell, let me know (although the distance to Florida may make shipping pricy).
