Dont miss this great show FRI-SAT JULY 19-20 2019 at the Kalamazoo Expo Center. Just 2 hrs east of Chicago, 2 hours West of Detroit, 3.5 Hours north of Indianapolis, 4 hours from Columbus OH. One of, if not, the largest, vintage radio and electronics show in the USA. See the flyer for it here :
https://www.thevee.org/?page_id=243

To buy seller tables, go to the Extravaganza tab.

A few notes about this show....
1. This is the only show of this type you can park and hook-up an RV ! You just need to contact the Expo Center for permit, info is in the event flyer.
2. Car camping allowed too. 6 motels nearby as well.
3. OUTDOOR seller spaces have been added this year. See flyer.
4. Indoors its ideal, nice polished cement floors, great lighting, AC power drops down (sellers- buy AC power as an option when registering), good food service open the whole show, clean bathrooms. and, EASY LOAD-IN ! Carts available.

Also, the amazing Gilmore Car Museum is just 30 mins away. Its like a college campus of several buildings, including an authentic 50's era diner. See their site here:https://www.gilmorecarmuseum.org/ Come a day early or stay an extra day and check this place out !

Any other questions? See the event flyer first, or call me. Hope to see many of you there !

July 1 is LAST DAY to save $10 on your booth , table or outside vendor spaces at the Vintage Electronics Expo July 19-20 2019 at the Kalamazoo Expo Center.

The indoor flea market is over 20,000 sq ft. Many outside seller spaces are available this year too. You can hook up an RV or camp on site, there are 6 motels within 2 miles. Kalamazoo is only 2.25 hrs from Chicago !
Gas prices are lowest ever for a July month ! There is the amazing "Gilmore Car Museum" just 30 mins NE of the show.
Grab a pal or a spouse... its summer "Roadtrip" time !
See the event site www.thevee.org we just set all time record attendance at our winter show (1100 +), we are expecting a significant bump on this show too. A couple fresh to market estates are expected in the flea market, including some items from the recent Bruce Eddy estate.

For space info email or call Mark Goodwin at mrkgoowin at comcast.net or 734-316-280 THREE

I will have 10 booths full...
See you there !!!

I will see you all there. I will set up "Camp Radio" at Fort Custer recreation area. ( 20 mins away) Wed nite thru Sunday Morning. I get to do two things I enjoy, go camping ( in the woods) and RADIOS, RECORD PLAYERS ETC.

The "good Buy" auction is what gets me in trouble.

Great fun, bring friends.

only 9 hours from Paducah KY

Outside spaces and camping? With this heat? I wouldn't even want to have to unload/load my trailer and van in this weather. Won't be seeing me there.

Wish I could make it, but my house rebuilding takes priority. Summer is short here. Rebuilding a snowblower today. Wish there were more big inside meets when the weather is crappy outside. Family time in Wisconsin last week of July so might not be able to make Radiofest either this year  .

We actually have an undercover loading dock too. Its just slower since there are two other overhead doors we normally use. So, rain wont stop this show ! Yeah the heat is not so nice but at least we have a fully air conditioned entire show. All shows should be inside if the shows want to attract newbies.

Originally I wasn't going to make it because my granddaughter was going to visit but she now has to work this weekend. Now it looks like I might get there. Is there going to be an ARF meeting table like we had at Farmington?

Feel free to have the ARF people meet at my booth at 10AM, like we usually do at the other MARC meets. From there, people can choose to go sit at the tables near the concession area if they want to spend time talking.

I haven't really been active on the forum or with antique radios in general for the last few years (been thru a lot...), but I do plan on being at the Expo tomorrow morning.

I'm really looking forward to becoming active again in the hobby.

For the first time in a few years, I actually SOLD something in Kalamazoo! Didn't do half bad-maybe I just brought better junk this year! I gave quite a bit to the donation auction as well. And although I had sworn off the Saturday portion of the show in the past, I gave it a try this year-but bought more than I sold Saturday! Picked up some microphones and stands, a few picture discs, and a couple of radios I didn't need  . Attendance seemed pretty good, and the place seemed really busy Friday morning. The auction Friday afternoon was fairly small. Dan Gutowski did a great job again this year as auctioneer. They did something new this year in the auction-leaving the items in place on the tables, and live streaming video of the items to the screen in front of the podium. This sped up the process a lot, and cut down on the manpower needed to work the auction. The two silent auctions on Saturday were pretty busy. Only one person took advantage of the outside spaces available-it may have been the oppressive heat (97 on Friday), but we will see what happens outdoors next year. Overall, I liked it, and had a good time.

Made it home today. I had a good time. bought a few things, then got some things at the donation auction.

I thought the flea was really busy Friday. Thinned out a bit on Saturday.

I did not burn up too bad camping at the state park( it was cooler in the trees), however the daily severe storms got old especially the one at 3 am on Saturday morning ( not fun in a tent and my screen house blew away, but i found it in the woods in the morning unharmed.) I barely beat the storms back to camp after the festivities Saturday. It then came a frog strangler and flooded my campsite. ( no worries tent was on high ground. )

All in all was a fun time for me I look forward to next year.

As always the MARC volunteers and officers did an exceptionally nice job putting this all together and making it run smoothly. The venue is absolutely perfect, you could not ask for a nicer facility, clean, air conditioned, with plenty of parking. It's just in the wrong location for having a major radio show like this one.

There were quite a few sellers, not too many empty tables, and some buyers. Of course you would always like to see more buyers, but it is becoming clear that the local population in the Kalamazoo area isn't going to come even to look, so there has to be a stronger customer base willing to travel to such an event or the event needs to be held in an area with many times the population of Kalamazoo.

One encouraging thing is that there were a handful of young people who did come, and did show interest, and even purchased a few items. We need more of that. And need to figure out how to get more 12-25 year old people interested.

A few dealers reported doing really well, some others reported they didn't sell enough to cover the expenses associated with traveling to and setting up at this location, and most that I talked to said they did OK but would like to have sold more. The common statement I heard from many was that there were not nearly enough people (buyers) attending.
