Had a lot of fun at the meet this morning, and met box13 (asked what the nic meant; he said it was the title of a '30's radio program), and a few other ARFers.
I couldn't resist this Bakelite -painted to appear like Catalin- Sonora. Seller wanted two bills for it, but I waved half as many 20's in front of him and he couldn't snatching them fast enough, so guess I overpaid, but WTH, I love the look of it! Works, & has a new line cord, but tuner is noisy and it only goes to 550 on the low end, 1540 kilocycles on the high side, so will need some TLC.
I opened it up, and they had just replaced the Electrolytic's (two 47's that each measured 63 uF instead of the called for 30's), and left a half dozen wax caps, so they're all gonna go. Determined the model number by looking at open and closed Sonora sales on eBay, and IDing the cabinet style, then went to Nostalgia Air to get the print. It's a Sonora RMU-176. I copied the label on the back of one of the eBay sold's, and will paste it on the radios backboard.
