Well yesterday I got "Greatest country western hits" - There are 5 records in this set, they are all in Mono!! (They dont have a date on them,i tried to find info but I cant..... I found a stereo copy of this same set but it also didnt have a date!!) -- I believe it was put together in the 60s or early 70s......

TRADITIONAL COUNTRY MUSIC -- GOOD STUFF!!

(LOL) You paid MONEY for a record that was pressed in the millions? I've got HUNDREDS of copies I'd have GIVEN you from leftover store stock along with Saturday Night Fever, Star Wars, Grease, the Sound of Music, Billy Joel's The Piano Man Yes 90125 and any number of Meco Monardo albums.

For the MILLION DOLLARS:

How is Bon Jovi and Meco Monardo associated?
No fair Googling.

How much you want for the Star Wars soundtrack?

The last NEW record I bought was a 45 back in 1988.
I bought a collection of 78s about a month ago and still going through them.
Some nice ones in that pile so far. Some minty Les Paul & Mary Ford ones.

You forgot the  . It would cost more to ship it Free Matter for the Blind or Handicapped than the record is worth. The only format in which that album is worth ANYTHING even in MINT CONDITION is either Quadraphonic 8-track 2 tape set (looks like it has a bite out of the upper-left corner) or else on a stereo 2-reel set with a 7-1/2 IPS The Story of Star Wars included therewith - mostly because it's the only place you can get a 7-1/2 IPS SOSW as all the release copies are 3-3/4.

Or if you find a colored-vinyl version. I've seen blue and yellow.
Same with The Wiz - one disc green one yellow.
or Saturday Night Fever if you find the grey-vinyl edition.

Three-disc boxed set, Philips SAL 6703 033, Tchaikovsky "Complete Works for Piano and Orchestra", Werner Haas (piano) and the National Orchestra of Monte Carlo. Ex-CBC Toronto Record Library, marked "April 24, 1974". Complete with original printed note book with studio annotations. Like new, not overplayed, low noise, very few clicks. $10.
Cheers,
Roger

Richard Betts "Highway Call" and James Taylor's self-titled album on Apple Records, containing the original version of "Carolina in My Mind". Both were still factory sealed, and got them for a buck apiece at the local thrift shop.

The only vinyl records I have bought since I got my Sony CDP-101 are
several Russian and Ukrainian underground imports I have bought in the
last few years from a very suspicious place in New York with a Russian
language only web page (with a Google translate button on it!) They took Paypal
and all arrived as described. These were two copies of Sorochinskii Yarmulke
(opera by Mussorgsky) and several works by obscure 1910s-1920s
Russian composers and contemporary Ukrainian ones.
This sort of stuff is now available either on Youtube or in better sound as
pirated MP3s from equally dodgy sources (that also take Paypal, thankfully),
This music is equally obscure as collecting old radios to fix, well,
more obscure by a lot. A lot of really good stuff composed in the Soviet era
but kept well underground until it broke up then came to light and got pressed
on vinyl in Kiev. I doubt many of you folks ever heard the
name Lyatoshinsky.

The wife and I went antiqueing on Monday and among other things I found these two boxed double album sets. The first, Big Bands - Big Band Bash, was issued by Time-Life in 1984. The second, Big Bands - World War II, was issued in 1986. Both are half-speed mastered and both box sets are still factory sealed. Each set contains 21 recordings. I paid $8 for the two.

I've been accumulating a lot of 45s lately to keep my two RCA changers busy. Yesterday I picked up 7 for 50 cents each at Half Price Books. All 60s/early 70s hits, original releases except for one reissue. Condition varied between fair (but listenable) and outstanding. At that price, I can risk a bad one every so often, but I can usually spot the really nasty defects.
Interestingly, HPB has started carrying brand-new LPs in addition to their used stock. Haven't investigated those yet.

On its way to me right now is a brand new LP of Glen Campbell's last studio album of new songs, "Ghost on the Canvas." Reviews of this album were very good, and many of the reviewers said it was Glen's very best album ever. He has retired from singing since he has altheimer's disease.
