I'm sure that's the case as well but what I meant was the song selection is sometimes not the same as the original ktel album of the same name. Some songs are missing and sometimes songs that weren't on the original LP are on the cd.

on K-tel's "Full Tilt", pat benetar's "hit me with your best shot" comes to mind. if i remember correctly, the beginning of the song is not the same as the radio edit or her album's cut.

i'd have to search my lp's to verify this but that probably isn't going to happen anytime soon.

I have a few KTEL collections

1) RECORD: The Hot ones (1978 - 2 records)
2) RECORD: Superhits of the superstars (1975 - 2 records)
3) 8 TRACK: Todays Super Greats (1973 - 2 records worth of music on it)

Because the songs were so tightly packed together, you had to handle the records very carefully. They were easily damaged, causing them to skip. Most K-Tel records I got at auctions had skipping issues.

a 3 minute song was 1/4 inch wide on the EDGE of the record .

i remember having to turn the volume up to 1-2 o'clock just to hear the music on k-tel records. on mother and dad's big long 1966 magnavox, other albums would blow you out of the room at the 10 o'clock setting.

k-tel, they had their place, however.

the typical album was a single disc with a lot of tunes that had terrible fidelity and low amplitude.

it was a major win and a terrible loss at the same time .

Thankfully the KTEL stuff I have have good levels/goregous sound...... (Not low volume)

The first record I ever bought was an K-Tel album from Woolworths. It was "Circuit Breaker" from 1978. Before that I listened to my brothers old rock LP's and 45's.
