I have the 7" and 3-4 LPs, one is an original US-version from ATCO.
Paid only 2 Euros on a flea market for the US-version.

The music (only the center part with the organ) was part of the german police drama,
first aired in 1971 and recorded in Munich:
Series: Der Kommissar
Episode: 33 / Langankes Verwandte

The center part was several times played during this episode.
Another song in that episode is ERIC BURDON with "Tobacco Road",
played from a DUAL record player and a jukebox.
- Fantastic rewind to the early 70s -

The other episodes showing old radios and TV sets in real places,
where the episodes were recorded from original flats and houses.

Regards,
SIXMILLION DOLLARMAN

Btw., "Der Kommissar" was the last german police drama recorded in b/w.

Great band that lots of people love to hate- all of their interesting songs are so far overshadowed by In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida that they just don't get a fair shake by most.

"Heavy" and "Ball" are favorites of mine- really wish someone would do a nice reissue of "Ball" the original Atco's are all over the place quality wise. Rhino did a nice reissue of the rare Mono mix of "Heavy"- and you can routinely find that for under $20 new.

I think you could easily walk across the USA on copies of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" and "Ball"- for years there were tons of terrible condition copies in the thrifts and in every used record store.

Iron Butterfly, sounds like part of a vintage carburetor.

Any album and any song by IB are my all time favorites. Whenever my sister and I go out driving in her car, Iron Butterfly is ALWAYS at the standby. Also when the vinyls get pulled out and played, the Ball album will get cranked up first!!! "Lonely Boy" is a favorite of mine, the vocals are so clean and distinct with incredible feeling being emoted... :D

Somebody put out a 7-inch 33 RPM version of the whole 17-min piece on 2 sides.
As expected - the sound is very poor. But at least it's all on there.
Never seen another copy since then.
