Not sure where to put this so I guess I'll start here.

I have a song called Bad Blood by Neil Sedaka on 45, the label is Rocket Record Company, which I believe is a division of MCA.

I have two different changers, one is a1966 Airline branded Voice of Music, completely restored, this has a diamond shape lightweight chromed tonearm. Weight is set properly with a good needle and cartridge from Gary. I actually two other of this style changer. The other one has been restored mechanical only.

The second changer is a Packard Bell branded Garrard 2025TC. Mechanically but not cosmetically restored but it's working perfectly with a good needle and cart.

For whatever reason, the Airline HATES Bad Blood, it will simply WILL NOT play it. To add insult to injury, it even skips on various other copies of the song in different places. It also doesn't like Limahl's Never Ending Story. Same issues, skips on various copies of the song in different places. What's even stranger, is that one of the other Airlines, it plays through perfectly as it does with the Garrard.

I'm really beginning to think it has something to do with where these records were originally pressed, though Bad Blood was pressed in the 70's, Limahl in the 80's.

I'm pulling my hair out on this one and really open to ideas.

Not familiar with your tt. But I had problems many years back
With certain records and was told the tonearm would
Resonate and cause skip.
Maybe someone has any info if that's correct

Are you certain you are using the LP Stylus and not the 78 side? Check it visually to make sure it's not switched around somehow.

If that's not the issue there's always the time tested solution of taping a Nickle to the Tone Arm. 8)

Hey Eric,

Most definitely using the correct stylus. In fact, the problem occurs with brand new stylus. It seems tied to this one turntable.

Try the nickel.

I imagine the record has a bump in it that throws the needle out of the groove.

What cartridge did you use in the tonearm?

this is the one that's currently in it.

Here's the orginal.

The other Airline has a NOS original like that above. However, it doesn't matter, the record still skips with either NOS (though not as bad) or new stock.

The Garrard is using a Tetrad SN4
