I remember watching the Mac Davis show on the TV back in the 70's.
Same here. We always had the variety shows on at that time. We didn't watch a lot of the classic series shows until the variety shows went off and they were rerun. Those variety shows were the best that TV offered. We used to laugh at the comedians, be impressed by singers/musicians, and amazed at the stunts. I must admit I hated the corny dancing segments though!
