Around 1964 Ray Charles's early works awoke my interest. I saved all my old vinyl, & added to it. My classic favorites are: Sonny Terry, & Brownie Mcgee - I even have an early 78. Also, Jimmy Reed, Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters, & various others. Seems every time I'm into a mechanical job on a vehicle - I put on my long "Definitive Howlin Wolf CD. Can't explain just why it puts a smile on my face & makes every project more fun.
Listening to these guys in my teens made it easier to convince my folks that I needed my own place - still a good zone in my life.
A few years ago I picked up an old Victor Floor model Victrola. I have a few old Jazz & blues 78's that I love to hear on it - very atmospheric.
Love to come across an underappreciated hoard of old blues & bawdy blues.

You might like "Saturday Night Blues" on CBC radio. You're probably too far south of the border to pick up the live broadcast, but you can stream the archived shows on the web.

The host plays a mix of different types of blues, and usually has an interview with one or two blues artists on each show. I make a point of listening to it when it's on.
