Guys I just got this TV kit. It was part of an ASI home electronics course. But Heathkit provided all the electronics.

Anyway here is what I have of the kit. 3 Boxes.

The CRT is NIB is a 18VAZ 22P and tested outstanding and tracking was spot on even.

Here's what was inside one of the boxes as I opened the box.

Here's the other box as I opened it.

After looking further into this kit I discovered that all the circuit boards, parts, and their manuals are missing. Only the Convergence board and its parts are there. It appears that this kit had another box. I'm also missing the metal cabinet pieces and perhaps the power transformer.

Everything that is in this kit is still in very good shape. Of course the some of the metal parts need to have that cad plating gunk cleaned off. Everything else is in pristine condition.

The manuals have the "X-Ray" view the PC boards and a component listings. Some IC's, caps, resistors, inductors, coils, transformers, etc. I know I could recreate those boards but getting the special parts probably would be a real pain. Maybe some of the boards are used on other TV's? We'll see.

Anyway I thought I share this find with you guys.

There's a nice project for you.

BTW, there are two unbuilt Heathkit color TVs on ebay right now. If I was closer to Massachusetts they'd be mine now.

It's a Heathkit GR-180. They also offered the GR-2000 in 1975/76. EDIT: You have the 18" er - a GR-180.

https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q ... 4563856351

I've junked a GR-295 !! It didn't work (it was 1981/1982) but the whole suite of Sencore stuff we got with it, for free, was worth the haul. The gentleman was a TV customer of ours who gave up on the Heathkit and took up golf, even moving so the golf course was a walk from his house. Dad serviced his sets for free for years. I still have the VA48 and the Sencore bench DVM.

The schematic in kit #132 (Book 4 for Heathkit) says its a GR-269 Schematic. My thumb shows page 4-127. Then the schematic.

Probably a GR-2000, or the variant that B&H used with the little test meter. Clip it here, adjust for half scale. Clip it here, adjust for null. Enjoy set. IF's were pre-aligned to broadcast specs, and gave awful ghosting on cable systems. Heath fixed it with a bulletin, but the school sets were orphaned, and never got the scoop.

Ah, the solid state version - they kept the same bezel. Your manual also screams solid state. Circa 1974, does it have Xistor or SCR sweep?

I think that the critical things to have are the pre-built IF strip, the tuner and the pre-built horizontal output and high voltage module. In one of your photos I see something that looks like the high voltage module. If it is anything like my set, most of the circuits use discrete transistors.

Tom,
Yes, the HV module is prebuilt which includes the H. Output section. Also the IF strip, and AFT module are prewired.
The other boards use transistors, and some IC's. Both DIP and round type.

I believe its transistors.

Good news, The seller has located most of the other boards and parts.

Still missing are the Chroma and Video Output boards/parts.

The photos were taken from another Forum on a GR900 build thread.

I may have those boards and unbuilt, besides a GR-2000 that I built last year I also have 2 unbuilt kits of a model I am unsure about, they were complete but missing the main stamped out chassis.

I will pull the boxes out and check later today
