I brought home a dead Dumont today. Told the owner its not worth anything if the CRT is bad. It did have a tube brightener on it already when I removed the back cover. Looks like the emissions are very low on the CRT using my BK 465. I don't have the room for it so it will probably get played with then parts salvaged. I have no idea if anyone ever tried rejuvenating it but I suppose its beyond that.

Can you select a higher filament voltage on your CRT tester? If you can, see how the emission is with something like 7.5 volts on the filament. That will tell you how well it will work if you use the brightener.

CRTs with low emission can often produce a usable picture in a room with subdued lighting.

Since I have no experience with rejuvenating a CRT, I have been letting it bake at 8 volts. About 5 hours last night and 12 hours today. It started with almost no emissions.
Now its almost into the good at 8 volts.

Drops to here at 6.3 volts.

Since this set is dead I played a bit with the rejuvenation of the CRT, a medium rejuvenation gave some decent emissions, who knows for how long. The set has sound only, nothing on the screen.

I would give this set FREE to someone that needs it if they pick it up.
