TV pattern generators are useful. More important for color sets than B/W.
I think you might be able to find a more recently made solid state version for about the same amount. Less need to fix it first. Personally I have come to the conclusion that for test equipment that I want to rely on, solid state is less trouble.
Now if you enjoy restoring test equipment then get what ever you want.
Check and see if you can find service info on it since you will have to re-cap it at least and then maybe adjust it before you could use it.

Sometimes tube color bar generators are worth more than their asking price in the 12AX7s they contain.

If you collect color sets from the first couple of years some factory adjustment literature calls out specific generators that produce specific odd ball test patterns that predate standardization and having the correct make/model generator specified is essential for preforming the procedure.

Color sets made after 1960, a small solid state generator and or a test pattern DVD will work fine.

I still have an early Heathkit generator, and a B&K "Color Analyst" stashed away .
