So I'm watching my 1951 Emerson 696 the other night when some rather horrific horizontal distortion occurs. Took a look in the back and phooey, the flyback is burning right where the 1B3 plate lead emerges. I shut if off and applied Corona Dope but it's just a matter of time until it happens again.

The Flyback is Emerson part # 738060, which after some research I discovered crosses to a Gramer-Halldorson FB414 and/or a Thordarson FLY-8. But I haven't been able to determine the Merit equivalent.

Can anyone help me identify the Merit number for this part? And while I'm asking, does anyone have a NOS replacement (of any make) that they'd be willing to part with?

Thanks! Bob

I have a bunch of Ram flybacks if you can cross it to them.

Scott-

Looking at the cross-reference from your 2012 post, I see that the RAM equivalent is part #X064. Any chance you have that?

Thanks - Bob

Well, I have a X065, Don't have a X064
It looks like this set used used a several different part numbers.

Here is what the RAM catalog says:

This is the difference between them. If you can use the X065, it is yours.

I have a Merit cross catalog from 1965 and it skips over your Emerson number.

Thanks to all for your responses.

Scott- I checked my set and the part and circuit are definitely looking for the X064. The X065 might work but I'd expect a slew of linearity issues that would have to be corrected. Thank you sincerely for your offer.

RCADanny- No Merit equivalent, huh! That explains why I couldn't find it! Thanks for looking.

Crist - Thanks for the referral, I'll try it. PS - I'm a big admirer of your work!

When Barry gets Playthings of Past (or whatever it will be called) up and running check with him as the old website shows there may be a FLY-8 available.

Tim-

I saw that FLY-8 on PTOTP, thank you for posting. I'm also hoping that the business starts up again, I have a growing shopping list for him!
