How is a tv tuner taken out when the channel label obstructs

This is a goldstar 1983 tv with knobs. The VHF portions has plastic which keeps from being able to detach the tuner from the plastic frame. The only way around seems to pry the knobs off which will probably break something

Carefully pry them off. If they got glued on you have a problem !

I was able to do this for the VHF knob IIRC. For the UHF knob it was harder and IIRC I did not try further to avoid damage

Use two metal shoe horns, one either side of the knob, and lever it off, keeping it parallel with the case.
The finger hook ends go under the knob.
Wax, paper, bitumen, cotton, high voltages - what could possibly go wrong?

Another option if you are having trouble getting a purchase on a knob is to loop the edge of a T-shirt under the back edge of the knob and use it as a handle to apply more force.
