Hello all,
I have a black Royal 800 that seems to be in pretty decent condition except for some minor scratches and a little dent on the speaker grill.
I'm not a radio collector but I do find this radio to be pretty cool (love the pop up handle).
The question I have, is it worth selling? Money's tight right now but if it's worth something decent , I would sell it.. If not, I would hold onto it.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Absolutely but condition is everything. Helps if it works to.

That model doesn't come up for sale very often, and certainly has a value, which would depend mainly on condition, secondly on color, and lastly if it operates, as in receiving stations.

Post a scan of it.

She's a real beauty!

And beauty like that should not be hidden. Here are some pics of what this model looks like. This model was bought in a bid for $292 USD.

I think the Royal 800 is the only Zenith solid state radio that actually has some attractive styling to it. It looks more Japanese made then it does American.

Did you ask ebay or the sellers permission to download their photos to your computer and then upload them to this forum as attachments?

The guy or gal that just dropped the 300 bucks mightn't be too happy either.

Michael had already provided a link to the auction of the Royal 800

Greg.

Aiding and abetting... your confession has been duly noted.
I've got a funny feeling Richard that this months punishment is 50 push-ups for a first offense, remember them...

Greg.

oh... I'm also old, decrepit and something else, but... I can't remember what it is!

Here are a few photos of my Zenith Royal 800:

All the components are original and the Zenith 800 is a good performer. The only problem with the radio is the case is warped caused by the weight of the radio with the batteries installed when left for years in an upright position. - Mark

For anyone who is interested, I have apologized to bedtime via PM for my outburst earlier, it was uncalled for.

It's okay.

I understand that it is not my property, but I thought it would be at least a little more acceptable so long as I added the 'Courtesy' and link information to the source. If anything, perhaps it might even help to sell the unit, though that was not my point; I just like the look of a Zenith radio and was trying to prove that they have decent looking transistor radios.

If the forum is against such posts, I'll desist from doing it. But the radios are just so pretty!

In any event, a few weeks into November, I will have been graced with my very own Zenith Royal 7000 11 Band Transistor Radio with the 56" telescopic antenna and illuminated dial, and I'll be legally posting it on the forum. :D

Again Greg, no harm done.

No chance in that, they are either drunk off of our 100% Canadian whiskey or too high on government issued weed to care. :P

Be thankful that you did not inadvertently use a 'cute' word during your outburst. The Cutsie Cops would have shown no mercy in skewering your post. :D

resize your pics to no more than 800 pixels per side, which you can do in paint shop. Then simply click on choose file, select, and click on add the file.
