Just caved in an bought on ebay.
Seller claims 1975 as year, though I don't know how he got that info, as I sure can't find it.
At well under $100 for very good condition,
I hope I didn't do too badly.
Any information and opinions on this set are much appreciated.

This G.E. just TROUNCED my Panasonic RF-2200.

https://youtu.be/CCJu_cTOIe8

The signal is WTAM, 114 miles from me in Cleveland, OH.

There is rfi from t.v. downstairs, the G.E. is unphased with strong reception.

Hey Dalton,

That's pretty impressive !

Is the actual tone quality better than what you hear on video ?

Have you had the back cover off yet ? Be sure to take some interior pics when you do as I'm sure others will like to see !

John

Yes, tone quality is better than on video.
Haven't had back off yet, but will post pics when I do.
I need to find a service manual for this, which seems impossible.
Thanks!
:D

$76 is an inflated shipping price.

Not a wise move on the sellers part.

Hi!

Were you able to find any schematics on it?

Could you share?

I came to one of this and and I want to try to make it work properly.

Have never heard of or seen this model before.

Looked it up on-line and found five examples with these date codes: 4136, 1138, 4209, 2212 and 6225. The earliest of these particular five was manufactured on Thursday, week 36 of 1971; the latest on Saturday, week 25 of 1972. Above the model tag, there should be a date code tag which is missing in your radio.

This radio had a suggested retail price of less than $170 which was not cheap. The price of gold per ounce was about $44 in 1971 and $64 in 1972. In gold value, this radio's price was equivalent to 2.6 to 3.8 oz. With that amount of gold today, you could buy at least four latest Iphone 11 smartphones.

Hi!

Were you able to find any schematics on it?

I came to one of this and and I want to try to make it work properly. Neither FM, SW1,2,3 or AIR band work properly. I've been recapping but I'de like to check on schematics just to be sure.

It is actually an ugly but beautiful receiver. On AM it works perfectly and I picked up some australian broadcast on SW5 and some cuban broadcasts too.

I'd love to make it work right.

Thanks in advance.

Eiber.
