I found a Zephyr ZR 930 in its original box and with its original documentation. It doesn't look like it was ever used or used very much. The included Zephyr battery is dead. The headphones and case are in excellent condition. Putting a good battery in the radio I can hear static but no stations.

I don't collect transistor radios but have often found them in my tube radio searches. Any idea as to value?

TIA,

Terry

Boxed set, with no cracks, chips or major dings to the gril, minor to meduim scratches (I assume from the leather case?)
Probably worth $80 to $120 on ebay. Might be higher if it was the red one.

Some people are going to disagree because the Bunis guide from 1996 states $175 to $200 for this set.
My valuation is based on recent sales at ebay and other sites. Bunis prices were from a time when ebay was just beginning
and the ZR-930 radios were more rare back then. Not many were "flushed out" from owner's closets and other storage - yet.
They seem to be more common now.

I would tend to agree with livewire54 on his estimate of value. The set would most likely play if the Electrolytic caps were replaced, but if you want to flip it on eBay, leave it as-is, and promote it as Japanese made, W/ a reverse painted bezel.

Interesting factoid - Later iterations of the Zephyr ZR-930 were made in Hong Kong. I'll save you the details.

EDIT: If you are interested, here are the gory details: https://www.jamesbutters.com/londale930.htm

The black one mentioned above is of Japanese origin. There is a red one on ebay at the moment with a Hong Kong label on the rear cover.
