I'm going to possibly pick this up tomorrow - I can't find it anywhere in the usual places. What model is it, and when was it made?
Thanks in advance!

Need a model number to determine what year it was made. If it has CD marks, that would at least date it as pre-1963. Regardless, buy it. It's not common.

I love the dog and megaphone icon. "His master's voice. " I don't remember seeing that on their other transistor radios.

For $15, I figured it was coming with me either way.

RCA GP-550

Don't worry if the telescopic antenna is missing - - it doesn't do anything. Lol

That is cool! I never knew about that. I guess it's true you learn something new every day! Unfortunately though, Greg "Egg The Radio Oracle" has given up his secret! Next, you'll be saying Santa Claus isn't real. :(

oh... Santa Claus is real.

Christmas morning 1969 when I was seven years old we had six inches of snow and his footprints could be seen on the long driveway that led to the house.

:) Greg.

So much for the Santa down the chimney myth.

BTW, AFAIK later radios branded RCA Victor were sold outside the US market.

I got it, and cheaper because it has more flaws than pictured in the ad... It works, with the prerequisite scratchy volume pot. I will post pics as soon as I can get a few minutes to take and post them...

The sticker inside IDs it as a GP550, and reads
Made expressly for RCA Victor Company, LTD. Montreal Canada"
