Hi,
Does anybody know where I can get a replacement coil for this radio?

I think your only hope would be a junker parts radio. You might find some on Ebay. Occasionally I've seen some in horrible shape. The Royal 400 appears to use the same oscillator coil, and probably easier to find one of those.

^ Agreed. A junker set is about the only place to obtain 65 year old parts.

You say that it's defective. Have you removed it from the PCB and checked it's continuities? The most common fine wire break would be at the solder lugs.

Defective is ambiguous.

What's up... :)

Is your oscillator transistor functioning correctly, and the associated ceramic resistors?
Greg.

Thanks guys.I should have been more specific. I bought the radio on eBay and somebody removed the oscillator slug. There is no way for me to set the lower band.

So the coil might be OK, and all you need is the ferrite core for it?

Yes only the ferrite core.

The good news is that I found one that fits. The bad news is that when I tested it in one of my 500's, because it's about 1/8 inch shorter than stock, it won't tune down below about 640 kilocycles.

Sorry.
