Earphone Jack size

Post by Derbigdog »

I noticed that today's 3.5mm earphone jacks do not fit a vintage japanese pocket radio. They are much bigger than the vintage jack. What size are the vintage plgs/jacks for the earphones.

I found an online article that states there are also 2.5mm and 4.4mm sizes. The 6.35mm is 1/4".
Maybe the 4.4 is what you're talking about?

^Those plugs were made for stereo and in the case of the 4.4, video also.

AFA the older plugs, approximately 1/4 and 1/8 inch diameters. I made an adapter, so I could use a larger plug for a set that had a smaller size female jack. Click on the scan for more detail.
