:P the yearly food for our VLF boatanchors comes just in time,

17,2kHz CW
a good tip from me: a Alexanderson Alternator is not a crystal ! They are "swimming" in begin on the frequency, walking between 17,0 and 17,4 , it becomes better and better.
This is the "tune up", waterfall diagramms display a snake on the screen. So start listening with enough bandwith. When the oil is warm (and the beer cold) they are pretty exactly on 17,2kHz

good luck :D

Cool! I got their email yesterday! Its in the middle of the night here so I don't know if I will be up that late! Might have to get the National RBL out and see if I can hear it!

Yes, but has it ever been heard in the US by anyone without a mile long antenna, anyway?

best results you can have using a active "mini whip" antenna.
additional the tip to insert cascading chokes in that to extend the bandwith to very low frequencys.
cascading chokes: I mean a series of 3 chokes: at first a 10┬ÁH, then a core choke down to MW, then a lot of wires for VLF, ending at +Ub

greetings
Martin
