Can you help us with a link to the schematic you are using?

And, what test equipment can you use to work on this?

Is there more you might tell us about how the radio is working now? Does it work well below 800, for instance?

With more information, we might provide better help. Otherwise, the speculation can get pretty interesting, but may not do much for your specific situation.

Pending more info, I'll speculate that it would be good to listen for the Philco's local oscillator with a second radio. Does the LO quit as you tune above 800 on the dial?

Ted

An eight page Philco Troubleshooting service manual for model 46-1226 can be found at Tom Bavis' website, in DjVu format.

I use this DjVu reader (safe download from sourceforge.net) works great.

If you are using a Windows computer, here is a direct link to the DjVu reader .exe file.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/djvu/f ... rror=netix

Save it to your desktop, open it and follow the installation instructions.

If you have a signal generator, go to section 4 in the service instructions and do the suggested tests. If not, try replacing the 7F8 Converter tube. Does it pick up anything on Short Wave?
