Hey,
My name is Luc and I live in Belgium (the country of the tastiest chocolate, beer and fries) :-)
I am an electronics engineer and I am working on the restoration of a radio AR-812.
For this I need a radio tube type RCA AV 199.
Can someone help me with this?
Thanks in advance.
Regards.
Luc

Luc,

Howdy from Texas.

In the US, the tube is type UV199: https://www.radiomuseum.org/tubes/tube_uv199.html

Most US tubes made before 1925 have air leaks around the wires. It is very unusual to find a good UV199.

For my radio, I have changed UK type VT50 valves to UV199 bases:

The filament current is higher but the rheostats in the radio work correctly with these valves.

If you do not want to destroy your AV199 tubes to get the bases, you can put a WTB (Want To Buy) notice on the Classified Forum. Someone in the US may have UV199 bases they will sell.

There may be tubes that are a better replacement for the AV199 rather than the VT50 that I used.

Edit: V99 tubes were made in later years to replace the UV199. They are rare and expensive.

The uv199 tube will need an adapter to test them in most tube testers , i have collected numerous good UV199's for my RCA sets .Put an add on the forum here and you will get responses to sell you UV199's or UV 99's which are the same .You will most likely have to clean out the catacomb of the radio and resolder several connections inside to make your set wok again . Don't be shy ask and many questions to get the help you need .
