Here's another thing to watch out for if you decide to solder the leads of the new caps to the leads of the old ones - clean off any wax or corrosion on the wires. I have repaired several "restored" sets because the solder would not adhere.

Bob,
You're exactly right about cleaning off the wire stub of the removed capacitor. I clean off the stub as well so the wire is nice and shiny. That way I know I've got a good connection.
