Just put on bench. Variac start up showed no tuning bulb (120VAC bulb) and no current draw at all got hum out of speaker. Put in new bulb which lit up. Measured B+ 83V...needs to be 200V. Replaced C12 (.05) and C13 (.05) they were a mess. Still measured 83V B+.
Received PS caps 15uF (150V). replaced C15...it was shot. C16 right underneath was shot so I installed a .02, what was in it was a .04 ( was an original Philco) the schematic shows a .02.
Now the tuning bulb doesn't light, no B+.......help

Sorry false alarm...radio wasn't getting 120VAC. It is now and we have: 50X6
160VDC. B+ 90VAC. pin6 plate 50VAC. Pin1. Heater 106VAC. Pin8 Heater
Lots of hum gets louder when volume is turned up.

An app (application) aka Computer Program comes as an .exe (executable file), it cannot be delivered as a pdf An executable is a file that contains a program. Here is a direct link to DjVuLibre-3.5.27_DjView-4.10.4_Setup.exe (for a Windows PC). → https://datapacket.dl.sourceforge.net/p ... _Setup.exeFollow the installation Wizard to install. then... Go to Tom's site and download the service manual. Let me know how you get on. Greg. oh... I'm on a Mac computer. I've just installed the above program on my old 2003 XP machine... works great ...

Ok...just thought I would try. I saw some executables which led me to believe the file could be turned into .pdf?

Had replaced C15 15uF. Left C14 since it was newer. Read that C14 and C15 must be matched since this is a balanced voltage doubled circuit. Replaced C14 with match to C15. C15 was a 20uF. Turned on and Radio tuned in a station. Yay. Reorientated radio and radio will not tune in a radio station. Going to remove tubes associated with radio 7C7, 7A8,787,7C6 and clean tube socket contacts? You can hear as the tubes warm up the output background noise changes. It sounds like some of the circuitry is intermittent?

Tobacco Pipe Cleaners. 7-Eleven ... Greg. Edit: If the ones you get are too large (fluffy), run them through a cleanly drilled hole in a piece of sheet metal (soup-can). Cleaning Vacuum Tubes Pins Watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHhNCr2fYoU&t=2m12s

B+ measures 159VDC. It's supposed to be 180VD
Should I be concerned? Or move on.....

Received balance of replacement capacitors. Planning on replacing all of the wax and paper capacitors. I have four left to replace. Will report results when completed.

Can somebody help me size the wattage on R4 on tube 7C7. The one I removed is approx. Dia. 0.2" x 1/2" long. I put a 1/4 watt in but it heated up quickly.

Found a 200 ohm 2W and clipped it into circuit. Still getting hot as a pistol. Has a 21V drop across it.
Decided to swap out more of the tubes. When I removed the 7C7 tube this time I gave it a shake and heard something rattling. Put in replacement tube and voila up and running. Voltage across this resistor should only be 1V.

21v across 200 ohms works out to 2.2W, I would use at least a 5W resistor.

Purchased some 1mm dial cord string. Will fab up a dial pointer and restring.
Only have 1V across R4 now with replacement 7C7 installed. Will wait for 2W old stock TRW carbon resistors to install permanently.
The phonograph motor works so will be looking at this soon.
