Are you dealing with tombstones and cathedrals which have bad 8" speakers? I've used the Renegade 8" 3-way speakers on a Crosley and a Gloritone with excellent success. You can make a spacer to mount them and/or trim away decorative plastic on the tweeter and mid-range to make mounting easier. While they are rated for 300 watts, they sound nice driven by a single '45 tube. The price is also nice - less than $24 per speaker (they come in sets of two).

Here they are on EBay and Amazon (sets of two): ... :rk:1:pf:0 ... B0045V5WLC
