Hi All,

I just removed internal mica capacitors in the IF can of Crosley model 9-122W and replaced them with a pair of external capacitors with different values: 100pF, 150pF and 220 pF but the radio still does not work. I also try to adjust IF can's slugs (top and bottom) but no success. The radio worked before I fixed the IF can although it had lighting noise here and there.

I put another IF can adopted from a RCA radio onto the Crosley and it worked pretty well.

Does any one happen to know the correct values of these two external capacitors and also the value of built-in capacitor from pin #5 of 12BE6 to OSC secondary winding?

For reference, according to Rider's manual, IF can frequency of this radio is 455kc

Thanks

O.C

Are you sure you haven't broken a coil wire? Easy to measure R.

When I did replacement on an Motorola 53H I made up a jig and after scrapping away the silver migration between pri and sec, actually measured the caps. They were not the same both sides !!

I'll post a couple of scans from an article I wrote and see if they are readable

Thanks Gary. I checked two coils (primary and secondary) with a meter. No broken.
