The thread started out... would it be OK to.....
Just pondering a half-oscilloscope, that is only faintly related to the question
makes an awareness that, indeed, long ago there were transformers that had
both 6.3 and 2.5 volt windings.

Also, the 'faultless' oscilloscope was deemed necessary, because the editors were aware
of very many schematics published that could not work. Possibly because there was
some fundamental gap in experience or knowledge.

The scope schematic was folded in half, sitting in a file here . It was there because
someone clipped it out of the magazine probably before I was born.

You can tape up the unused wires, perhaps neatly trimming the ragged ends.
Noticing that the center tap may be actually two strands of enamel wire twisted together.
