Mohawk grain filler worked best for me, you can get the walnut color or neutral color , both very work well when you stain over.

Fred,
I've been enjoying reading your posts but did you mean to say Timbermate?

Fred, don't forget to mention about using wipe on stain by Mohawk too! I made the mistake of trying to use the Timbermate grain filler and regular Minwax stain from Lowe's and that didn't work! :D

Go to Mohawk Refinishing Products website and from there you can search for the closest dealer new you... Then go to that dealer's website and order from there...

https://www.mohawk-finishing.com/

Entering your zipcode shows there are 5 dealers near you...

Thanks for the info. The closest dealer is 40 miles away but the web site did not help much.I will have to call and speak to someone. I had stopped at Woodcraft Supply last year but the carry some other brand.

I purchase directly from Mohawk, but I use my business. I am not sure they want to sell to the general public.
