I recently picked up an RCA 87K1 and am in the process of restoring both chassis and CABINET. The situation that I need help with is cabinet color. I feel sure that it was a lacquered beauty and I am trying to get it as close to original color as possible. So far, I have only been able to find B&W photos of one.

>>Yes I know when it was built that there were no color cameras. But surely someone took a picture of one in its later life.

YES that it, Thanks. Now can you give me an idea on how that finish is acheived. I know the shiny part is probably lacquer but how on the color?

The person who posted that picture on Radio Attic was Lyndell Scott. Why not e-mail the Radio Attic owner/webmaster and ask him to put you in touch with Lyndell and you can ask Lyndell directly about achieving that finish: webmaster@radioattic.com

NOTE: There also was a Lyndell Scott who was an ARF member, but I don't think they've posted here for years...

Terry

I would suggest you read the posts by Fred Taylor in this forum. He is a real pro and provides a lot of tips when people ask questions.
